Top 25 Manchester United players of the Premier League era - #25

Sports Mole's countdown of the top 25 Manchester United players in Premier League history begins with number 25 - Nicky Butt.

By no means the most celebrated member of Manchester United's famous 'Class of 92', Nicky Butt was still an important part of the club's incredible success throughout the decade to come.

Competition from the likes of Paul Ince, Paul Scholes and Roy Keane meant that first-team chances were hard to come by at times, but Butt was always a handy back-up to have and proved exactly how valuable he could be with his performance in the 1999 Champions League final, when he played the whole game due to Keane's suspension.

That was, of course, part of United's famous treble that year, which accounted for three of the 15 trophies the England international won at Old Trafford - including six Premier League titles, three FA Cups and the Champions League.

Having made his debut in 1992, Butt eventually left the club 12 years later having scored 26 goals in 387 appearances - including 21 in 270 Premier League outings.
