A report claims that Everton striker Romelu Lukaku is to join Manchester United in a £75m deal, as the Red Devils withdraw their interest in Real Madrid's Alvaro Morata.

Manchester United have reportedly won the race for Romelu Lukaku after being given the green light to sign the striker from Everton for a fee of £75m.

The Red Devils are said to have grown tired of their drawn-out pursuit for Alvaro Morata and have now withdrawn any interest in signing the Real Madrid striker, instead turning to the Premier League-experienced Lukaku.

According to BBC Sport, United have beaten rivals Chelsea to the Belgian's signature and hope to have him in their squad prior to setting off to the United States on Sunday for the first leg of their pre-season tour.

Lukaku was widely expected to link up with his former club this summer, with boss Antonio Conte reportedly prepared to offer a nine-figure sum for the striker, but no official approach was made.

It has been suggested that agent Mino Raiola, who helped bring Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan to Old Trafford last summer, may have played a big part in the ex-Anderlecht man's decision to snub Chelsea and instead join Jose Mourinho at United.

Lukaku made clear at the tail end of last season that he would not be renewing his Everton contract, insisting that he instead wanted to move to a club with aspirations of winning regular silverware.
