Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal says that he is "very happy" for forward Memphis Depay following his goals in the club's 3-1 Champions League win over Club Brugge.

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has revealed his delight at the performance of Memphis Depay in the club's 3-1 Champions League qualification win over Club Brugge.

Depay was twice on the scoresheet as United set themselves up for potential progression into the group stages with victory in their first-leg encounter.

"I am very happy for Memphis because a player needs that," said Van Gaal, according to The Express.

"I said it was a matter of time and hopefully he shall continue.

"He is 21 and he has only played two seasons for PSV, I have confidence in him."

United have started the new season well, winning both of their opening Premier League fixtures.
