Half-Time Report: Manchester City ahead against Cardiff City

Manchester City lead Cardiff City 2-1 at the break in their Premier League meeting this afternoon.

Manchester City are leading Cardiff City 2-1 in their Premier League clash at the Etihad Stadium this afternoon.

The home side almost opened the scoring in the first minute, but Jesus Navas fired wide when the ball broke to him at the back post.

Edin Dzeko came close to giving City the lead, however, his low drive from the edge of the box was pushed wide by David Marshall.

Marshall was quickly called into action again to stop Ben Turner from putting the ball into his own net.

The hosts soon made their pressure count and took the lead in the 14th minute of the match. David Silva made his way into the box and pulled the ball back to Dzeko, who saw his scuffed effort cross the line.

Alvaro Negredo should have added a second, but after latching onto a ball over the top, he poked an effort wide.

Against the run of play the visitors equalised, as Craig Noone burst into the box, before taking the ball past Vincent Kompany and drilling a low shot into the bottom corner past Joe Hart.

The goal stung City back into life and they immediately regained the lead. Dzeko mishit a shot from the edge of the box, but it fell kindly for Navas to slot the ball past Marshall.
