Udinese chief insists Liverpool-linked Rodrigo De Paul will not leave cheaply

Udinese chief Pierpaolo Marino insists that Liverpool cannot expect to land Rodrigo De Paul on the cheap in the summer transfer window.

Udinese general director Pierpaolo Marino has insisted that Liverpool will have to fork out a considerable sum of money if they want to land Rodrigo De Paul this summer.

As Georginio Wijnaldum continues to run down the final months of his Anfield contract, Udinese captain De Paul has been mentioned as a possible replacement for the Netherlands international.

Wijnaldum has insisted that he would be "devastated" to leave Liverpool, but with an exit looking increasingly likely, the Reds are expected to prioritise a move for a new central midfielder in the upcoming transfer window.

However, Udinese chief Marino has insisted that Jurgen Klopp cannot expect to snag De Paul on the cheap, and the 66-year-old has also issued a warning over much-coveted goalkeeper Juan Musso.

Speaking to Italian radio station Radio Marte, Marino said: "It takes a lot of money to get them, but it's not like we went looking for potential buyers. I don't have the problem of needing to advertise them. If someone doesn't realise how strong they are, selfishly, it's better for me."

De Paul has scored five goals and assisted seven more for Udinese in all competitions this term, and he is tied down to the Bianconeri until the summer of 2024.
