Jeremy Mathieu 'considering Barcelona departure'

A report claims that Barcelona defender Jeremy Mathieu is considering leaving the Spanish champions this summer amid talk of interest from Liverpool.

Barcelona defender Jeremy Mathieu is reportedly considering his future at Camp Nou.

The 32-year-old joined Barcelona from Valencia in the summer of 2014 and has made 75 appearances for the Spanish champions over the last two seasons.

The France international has also landed seven major trophies since arriving at Camp Nou, including two La Liga titles and the Champions League in 2015.

Samuel Umtiti and Lucas Digne have both arrived at the club this summer, however, and it is understood that Mathieu will struggle for regular football next term.

Liverpool have been linked with a move for the versatile defender in recent days and according to Le Parisien, the Frenchman is considering departing Barcelona in this transfer window.

Besiktas are also said to be in the hunt for a player that is contracted to his current club until 2018.
