Marko Grujic hints at Liverpool exit

Marko Grujic admits that he might need to leave Liverpool during this summer's transfer window.

Liverpool midfielder Marko Grujic has conceded that he might need to leave the European champions during this summer's transfer window.

The Serbia international joined the Reds from Red Star Belgrade in January 2016 but has only made 14 first-team appearances for the Merseyside giants in all competitions, spending time on loan with his former club, as well as Cardiff City and Hertha Berlin.

Grujic will see his latest loan spell with Hertha end this summer, and the 24-year-old has suggested that he could leave his parent club if there is not a clear pathway into the first team.

"I'm sure we will sit down and discuss what is best for the club and what is best for me," Grujic told The Athletic. "I'm not a youngster any more. At the age of 24, I'm at the stage when I need to be making important steps in my career.

"I need to think and I need to be clever about what happens next. Is the best thing to stay in Liverpool and wait for a chance or is it time to have another loan or move to another club?

"At the moment, I don't know the answer. Everything is still open. The Bundesliga is a good league and over the past two years I've gained a lot of important experience and I feel like I've improved as a player."

Grujic has scored three times in 22 appearances for Hertha during the current season.
