Luis Suarez insists that he is ready to deliver for Uruguay at the Olympic Games and will not be distracted.

Uruguay striker Luis Suarez has insisted that he is completely focused on playing a pivotal role for his country at the Olympic Games.

The Liverpool forward will play for Uruguay against the United Arab Emirates on Thursday at Old Trafford, the ground at which he was at the centre of controversy last season.

Suarez will have mixed memories of his only appearance at the stadium, after being part of a prolonged scandal following his refusal to shake Patrice Evra's hand before the match began.

The 25-year-old is adamant that his mind is focused only on achieving Olympic glory with Uruguay.

He said: "I am representing Uruguay and that's all that matters to me."

"I said before that the English press is what matters least to me. I am proud to represent my country."

Suarez will form an eye-catching partnership with Napoli striker Edison Cavani as Uruguay begin the tournament as leading medal contenders.
