Graeme Souness tips Curtis Jones for bright Liverpool future

Former Liverpool boss Graeme Souness backs Curtis Jones to play a "big part" in the Reds' future after his impressive performance against Sheffield United.

Former Liverpool manager Graeme Souness has backed Curtis Jones to flourish at Anfield for years to come.

The 20-year-old has found Premier League starts hard to come by since the turn of the year, but he played a starring role in Sunday's 2-0 win over Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.

Jones featured from the first whistle and broke the deadlock on the 48-minute mark, with Kean Bryan's own goal sealing a routine Liverpool win, and Souness liked what he saw from the England Under-21s international.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, the 67-year-old said: "When you watch him (Jones) play, you realise he's full of technique. He can dribble in tight areas and he puts a shift in.

"[He's] 20 years old, he has a chance of being a real player for this club. The fact he's a scouser is a real bonus. He could have a big part to play in Liverpool's future."

Jones has now made 28 appearances across all competitions for Jurgen Klopp's side in the 2020-21 season, registering four goals and four assists.
