Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah is not yet at the level of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, according to Egypt teammate Ahmed Elmohamady.

Ahmed Elmohamady has claimed that Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah does not deserve to be spoken about in the same light as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Salah has enjoyed a stellar first campaign at Anfield with 42 goals being scored in all competitions, and the summer signing has been rewarded with a number of individual accolades.

The Egypt attacker is also in contention for the Ballon d'Or, but international teammate Elmohamady has insisted that Salah still has work to do in order to match the Barcelona and Real Madrid forwards.

The 30-year-old told The Independent: "It's only one season. For the level of Ronaldo and Messi, he has to do it for seven or eight years. He still has a long way to go."

Elmohamady could potentially face Salah in the Premier League next season if Aston Villa earn promotion to the top flight.
