Leeds United supporters excited at prospect of Lucas Radebe takeover

The chairman of Leeds United's Supporters' Trust says that they are excited by the prospect of a takeover led by former captain Lucas Radebe.

Supporters of Leeds United would be excited by the prospect of a consortium headed by Lucas Radebe taking over the club, the Supporters' Trust chairman has said.

Rumours emerged this morning that former captain Radebe and former Hull City chairman Adam Pearson were part of a group trying to take control of the club from GFH Capital, who only purchased the Whites in December 2012.

Speaking to BBC Sport about the news, Supporters' Trust chairman Gary Cooper said: "Obviously we, and all Leeds United fans, need more detail. But it has got to be exciting because of the involvement of Lucas Radebe.

"Leeds United winning promotion back into the Premier League with a group involving Lucas, who is loved by all Leeds United supporters, would be an ideal scenario.

"He knows what it takes to be successful at Leeds United, because he was part of those great European nights in the late 1990s and early 2000s."

A spokesman for GFH Capital insisted that no formal approach for the purchase of the club has been made.
