Hull City fans stage protest against owners during match

Hull City fans briefly halt their home match with Sheffield United to stage a protest against the club's owners.

Hull City's Championship clash with Sheffield United was disrupted midway through the first half when the home fans staged a protest against the club's ownership.

The game was briefly halted in the 20th minute when Tigers supporters threw sponge balls onto the pitch to express their discontent about the way Assem and Ehab Allam are running the team.

Disgruntled Hull fans also demonstrated outside of the stadium in the run-up to kickoff.

A section of supporters revealed their intentions to disrupt the game ahead of kickoff and went ahead with the plan despite manager Nigel Adkins urging fans to keep their protests outside of the ground.

Hull can move clear of the Championship relegation zone if they defeat the Blades.
