Nahki Wells, Jamie Paterson strikes gives Huddersfield Town victory over MK Dons

Nahki Wells and Jamie Paterson score as Huddersfield Town defeat MK Dons 2-0 in the Championship.

Goals from Nahki Wells and Jamie Paterson have given Huddersfield Town a 2-0 victory over MK Dons in the Championship.

Ishmael Miller had a chance to open the scoring in the opening minute, but his header missed the target from close range.

Nicky Maynard was first to test Huddersfield keeper Jed Steer but his shot from the right side of the box was comfortable for the loanee.

Josh Murphy then shot narrowly over the crossbar four minutes later, before Miller forced Russell Martin into a save from long range.

Jason Davidson and Sean Scannell both missed the target, with neither team able to make the breakthrough before half time.

Wells finally opened the scoring in the 57th minute when he smashed the ball into the bottom left corner to give Huddersfield the lead.

Josh Murphy tried to reply just two minutes later but his shot was saved by Steer but the Dons failed to create chances in the closing 30 minutes.

Daniel Powell's strike with nine minutes to spare went harmlessly over the bar as Huddersfield claimed the three points.

Paterson raced onto Florent Bojaj's through-ball and rolled the ball into the net to make sure of the victory deep into stoppage time.
