Jon Stead hoping for chance

Huddersfield Town striker Jon Stead insists that he is now fully fit as he waits for his first start of the season.

Huddersfield Town striker Jon Stead is hopeful that he will soon be handed his first of the season for the Championship club.

The 30-year-old, who initially left Town to join Blackburn Rovers in 2004, rejoined the club on a free transfer in the summer.

"I'm fully fit and have been for probably three-and-a-half-weeks now. There's no problems with my injury or anything, so I'm just biding my time now and will hopefully get an opportunity to play a few more minutes," Stead told Sky Sports News.

"When the team's doing well it's not as difficult to sit on the sidelines because you haven't really got a problem with things, you just have to train hard and wait. If we had lost every game at the start of the season and I still wasn't getting a chance, that's when it becomes frustrating.

"But that's not been the case. We lost the last game against Barnsley after going on a decent run, so whether it comes on Saturday, Tuesday or the coming weeks, I'll bide my time, but I'm ready for my chance."

Huddersfield currently sit 12th in the Championship table.
