Hertha Berlin held by Werder Bremen

Anthony Ujah cancels out a strike from Valentin Stocker, as Hertha Berlin share a 1-1 draw with Bundesliga rivals Werder Bremen.

Werder Bremen have come from a goal down to earn a 1-1 draw in their Bundesliga clash with Hertha Berlin this evening.

The hosts made a strong start to the match and they took the lead in the sixth minute when Valentin Stocker crashed an effort into the roof of the net, after Jens Hegeler's strike had been blocked.

Werder fought their way back into the match and they levelled the scores in the 27th minute when Ulisses Garcia's cross picked out Anthony Ujah, and although the striker made a mess of his header, he reacted quickly to poke the ball in from close range.

Early in the second half Stocker had another chance to find the net, but after the ball broke kindly to him inside the box once again, he could only volley over the bar.

The Swiss international was involved again just a minute later, as his deflected strike whistled just wide of the post.

As the game entered the final 10 minutes, Werder came within inches of taking the lead when Sebastian Langkamp's looping header beat his own goalkeeper and came back off the bar.

Moments later the visitors hit the woodwork for the second time as Jannik Vestergaard powered a header against the post.

Bremen were made to rue those missed chances, as the game finished all square, leaving them still searching for their first win of the season.
