Bordeaux win the Coupe de France following a 3-2 win over Evian TG.

Bordeaux have lifted the Coupe de France thanks to a late goal from Cheick Diabate securing a 3-2 win over Evian TG.

Diabate caused problems from the start for Evian, but some solid defending prevented Bordeaux from taking an early lead.

However, the Mali striker broke the deadlock just before half time, tapping the ball in from close range following a high ball from Mariano.

Diabate had a chance to double Bordeaux's advantage at the start of the second half, having won a penalty when Cedric Cambon pulled him down.

Diabate tried to add his second of the game by stepping up to take the spot kick himself, but Bertand Laquait correctly guessed which way he was going to place the ball and was able to make the save.

The miss proved costly two minutes later, when Yannick Sagbo sidefooted the ball into an empty net following a team effort from Evian.

Bordeaux restored their lead after just three minutes on level terms, with Henri Saivet heading in from just in front of goal.

Brice Dja Djedje drew Evian level again with less than 20 minutes to play following a strong attacking spell.

It looked like the game would head to extra time, but a last minute corner for Bordeaux saw Evian clear the ball as far as Saivet, who looped it back in towards Diabate, and the striker duly blasted it into the back of the net to seal the victory.
