Frank de Boer "interested" in Everton job following Roberto Martinez sacking

Frank de Boer is "interested" in taking on the Everton job following Roberto Martinez's sacking, according to his brother Ronald de Boer.

Frank de Boer is "interested" in becoming the next Everton manager following the sacking of Roberto Martinez, according to the Dutchman's brother Ronald de Boer.

The 45-year-old has become the bookmakers' favourite to take charge at Goodison Park after he announced his departure from Ajax today.

This afternoon, Everton confirmed that Martinez has left the Merseyside outfit with immediate effect after guiding the team to just 10 wins in 37 Premier League games.

De Boer has been linked with a move to England in the past, specifically a switch to Tottenham Hotspur, and his twin brother believes that Everton could be the perfect destination.

"Frank is interested in the Everton job but it's not up to him to make the move, that's up to the club," Ronald de Boer told Sky Sports News. "In my eyes he's the right man for the job.

"He thought he was going to fulfil his ambition of managing in the Premier League but talks with Tottenham collapsed at the last minute. I think Everton would be a good fit for Frank - it's the sort of club that would give him the chance to show his qualities."

De Boer guided Ajax to four Eredivisie titles in six years, but they missed out on a fifth at the weekend as PSV Eindhoven took the crown.
