Steve Coppell refuses to rule out Crystal Palace return

Former Crystal Palace manager Steve Coppell refuses to rule out the possibility of returning to take charge of the club for a fifth time.

Former Crystal Palace manager Steve Coppell has refused to rule out making another return to the club.

Palace have been without a manager for almost a month now after parting company with Ian Holloway on October 23, prompting co-chairman Steve Parish to admit that the search for a replacement has gone on longer than he would have liked.

Dan Petrescu, Sean Dyche and Iain Dowie have all been linked with the post, and Coppell has admitted that he would "never say never" to reprising his role as manager of Palace for a fifth time.

"I have probably spent a quarter of my life working for Crystal Palace so I have got a huge soft spot for them," Coppell told PA.

"People always say never go back, but I have been back four times now. The best thing for me to say is never say never."

Coppell spent a combined total of more than 10 years in charge at Palace but has been out of management since a brief stint with Bristol City in 2010.
