Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has reportedly given Gary Cahill the green light to leave Stamford Bridge during the January transfer window.

The 32-year-old made 43 appearances in all competitions for the Blues last term, but has only played 21 minutes of Premier League football during the 2018-19 campaign.

Cahill is still technically Chelsea's captain, although the centre-back will see his contract expire at the end of this season, and has been strongly linked with a move away from the club.

According to Calciomercato, Sarri has informed Cahill that he is free to leave in the winter transfer window, and AC Milan are interested despite reports to the contrary earlier this week.

Cahill has made 289 appearances for Chelsea following a 2011 move from Bolton Wanderers.
