Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain remain interested in signing Barcelona attacker Ousmane Dembele, according to a report.

Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain are both reportedly still interested in Barcelona attacker Ousmane Dembele.

The 25-year-old's future was the subject of much speculation earlier this year, and he actually left the Catalan giants when his deal expired at the end of June before re-joining on a two-year deal in the middle of July.

Chelsea and PSG were among a number of clubs to be linked with the France international amid the speculation surrounding his future, but he ultimately came to an agreement with Barcelona over a return.

The forward has been in strong form for Xavi's side during the 2022-23 campaign, scoring five goals and registering seven assists in 20 appearances in all competitions.

Meanwhile, he has been a vital player for France at the 2022 World Cup, providing two assists in six appearances, with Didier Deschamps's side in Sunday's final against Argentina.

According to Marca, Barcelona are not currently looking to open talks over a new deal despite the fact that the forward will soon enter the final 18 months of his agreement.

The report claims that there is a €50m (£43.6m) release clause in the contract, which can be activated this summer, but the Catalan outfit are relaxed over the situation.

Chelsea and PSG are both said to be keeping a close eye on proceedings, with the duo remaining interested in securing his signature.

Dembele has scored four goals and registered five assists in 14 La Liga appearances this season, while he scored once and set up two in six outings in the group stage of the Champions League.

In all, the forward has made 170 appearances for Barcelona since arriving from Borussia Dortmund, scoring 37 goals and providing 41 assists in the process.

Speaking ahead of the World Cup final, Dembele claimed that the current generation of France players are better than the winners of the 2018 competition.

"I can see similarities. Maybe there were more crazy players in the team but there is a great atmosphere now so we cannot really compare. 2018 was the first time in 20 years so it is not the same thing," he told reporters.

"The team is a bit more composed to 2018. We are going to prepare for this final as well as we can and we will be ready mentally for this fight.

"It will not be easy to beat Argentina. They are a really good team and better than they were in 2018 but we will approach this match with the serenity we have had all the tournament.

"We were happier coming from France v Belgium in the semi-final four years ago. We had to suffer against Morocco. So we have a lot more experience so maybe the team has more experience."

Dembele has scored four goals in 34 appearances for his country, but he is yet to find the back of the net in his 10 appearances at the finals of a World Cup.
