Chelsea are reportedly ready to enter the race to sign Reims forward Hugo Ekitike, who has also been linked with Newcastle United.

Chelsea have reportedly identified Reims forward Hugo Ekitike as a potential transfer target.

The 19-year-old has been hugely impressive in Ligue 1 this season, contributing eight goals and two assists from 17 appearances.

Newcastle United have been heavily linked with the prospect in recent weeks, although no move appears to be imminent after initial speculation.

According to Footmercato, that has seemingly left the door open to Chelsea, who are allegedly interested in securing a deal in the summer.

The report claims that the European champions have already made contact with Reims regarding a potential deal, likely to be in region of €40m (£33.45m).

Ekitike still has two-and-a-half years remaining on his contract, leaving Reims in a relatively strong position with regards to his future.
