Chelsea reportedly complete the signing of Timo Werner from RB Leipzig, with the striker set to join at the end of the Bundesliga season.

Chelsea have reportedly completed the signing of striker Timo Werner from RB Leipzig in a £47.5m deal.

The 24-year-old had been heavily linked with a number of Premier League clubs, including Liverpool and Manchester United, while La Liga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona were also thought to have been interested at one stage.

However, news broke earlier this month that Chelsea had won the race for his signature, and according to The Telegraph they have now finalised the deal after triggering his release clause.

Werner is understood to have agreed a five-year contract at Stamford Bridge worth just over £170,000 per week.

Confirmation from the club is expected in the next 24 hours, with Werner set to join Chelsea when the German Bundesliga season ends later this month.

The striker has informed Leipzig that he does not want to see out the remainder of the Champions League campaign, which is due to resume in August, in order to link up with his new club as soon as possible.

The Germany international becomes Chelsea's second signing of the summer before the transfer window has even opened, with Hakim Ziyech also on his way to the club.

Werner has scored 32 goals and created 13 more in just 43 appearances this season, including 26 goals and eight assists in 32 Bundesliga outings.
