Half-Time Report: Anthony Stokes puts Celtic in front

Celtic lead Motherwell 1-0 at the break courtesy of a goal from Anthony Stokes.

A goal from Anthony Stokes separates Celtic and Motherwell at half time in this afternoon's Scottish Premiership clash.

The Hoops has could have opened the scoring in the fourth minute when a menacing cross from Emilio Izaguirre caused havoc in the opposition's box, but it was eventually dealt with.

Neil Lennon's side broke the deadlock in the 21st minute when Mikael Lustig picked out Stokes inside the box and the striker found the top corner with a right-footed drive.

Celtic dominated play during the first period and were only denied a second by the good form of Motherwell goalkeeper Lee Hollis, who produced a good save to foil Kris Commons on the half-hour mark.

James Forrest struck a follow-up, but Stephen McManus cleared off the line to keep the scoreline down to 1-0 at the break.
