Burnley 1-3 Birmingham City

Birmingham City strengthen their position in the Championship playoffs after claiming victory at Turf Moor.

Birmingham City have moved three points clear of the chasing playoff pack after claiming victory at Turf Moor this evening.

The visitors took the lead in the 11th minute when tall forward Nikola Zigic flicked David Murphy's long throw-in into the path of Marlon King, who swivelled before firing home.

Few goalmouth chances were seen in the rest of the opening period as Burnley began to play their way into the fixture.

After the break, the home side turned the screw and, after smacking the woodwork twice in the same move through Junior Stanislas and Charlie Austin, the Clarets were level when Danny Ings turned home Ross Wallace's centre.

The game was level for seconds however, as Birmingham restored their lead through Jordan Mutch before Murphy sealed the points two minutes from time by forcing home at the back post.

Three points for Chris Hughton's men sees them remain fourth but they are now three clear of chasing trio Blackpool, Brighton and Middlesbrough while Burnley stay 16th.
