Brian Jensen saves three penalty kicks in a dramatic shootout as Burnley survive a scare to knock Plymouth Argyle out of the League Cup at Turf Moor.

Burnley had to rely on the heroics of goalkeeper Brian Jensen to secure their place in round three of the League Cup at the expense of Plymouth Argyle this evening.

Charlie Austin's close-range header eight minutes before half-time had looked to have sealed victory for the hosts, until Sam Vokes brought down Paris Cowan Hall in the penalty area with just seconds of regulation time remaining.

Robbie Williams emphatically converted the resultant spot kick and then, after 30 minutes of tight, tense extra-time football, the game was eventually settled by a dramatic shootout.

Jensen denied Williams, Luke Young and Conor Hourihane from 12 yards, leaving Brian Stock to dispatch the decisive kick and seal a dramatic 3-2 victory.
