Frank Fielding credits Bristol City coaching staff for penalty heroics

Bristol City goalkeeper Frank Fielding admits that he was "pleased" to keep out Shola Ameobi's penalty, but says a lot of the credit must go to the backroom staff.

Frank Fielding has put his point-saving heroics against Bolton Wanderers down to the work of Bristol City's backroom staff.

The 27-year-old kept out Shola Ameobi's second-half penalty to ensure that the spoils were shared at the Macron Stadium.

Rather than take all the plaudits himself, Fielding instead heaped praise on the coaching members who had conducted plenty of research pre-match to help him turn away the spot kick down to his right-hand side.

"I don't want to give too much away but we do a lot of work and credit has to go to our analysts Sam (Stanton) and Sean (Gilhespy)," he told the club's official website. "Also to goalkeeping coach David Coles and the gaffer because they ensure we always prepare for that eventuality.

"They always test me on penalty kicks and we have lots of discussions. We had half an idea of where [Ameobi] was going to go, but you still never know. I'm just pleased I was able to keep it out."

The point was enough to keep the Robins out of the relegation zone heading into the two-week international break.
