Bournemouth confirm that they have completed the signing of Lorient winger Dango Ouattara on a long-term contract.

Bournemouth have confirmed that they have completed the signing of Lorient winger Dango Ouattara.

Since the club's takeover at the back end of 2022, the Cherries have been looking to strengthen Gary O'Neil's first-team squad.

The South Coast outfit continue to be linked with a reunion with former playmaker Arnaut Danjuma, who is being allowed to depart Villarreal this month.

However, Bournemouth have opted to proceed with the addition of highly-regarded Ouattara, who has penned a five-and-a-half-year contract.

While a fee has not been disclosed, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano says that Bournemouth have committed to paying €23m (Β£20.1m), plus add-ons.

Speaking on the signing, chief executive Neill Blake said: "We are pleased to secure the services of Dango, a promising and sought-after player with a great deal of potential.

"We have been monitoring him for a period of time and he fits the profile of the young, ambitious, hungry and hard-working player this club is looking to recruit.

"Bill [Foley] has outlined his ambitious plans for the club and the signing of an exciting prospect like Dango is testament to the direction he is looking to take us."

Ouattara moves to the Vitality Stadium having enjoyed the best period of his career, helping Lorient occupy seventh place in the Ligue 1 standings.

The 20-year-old has contributed six goals and five assists from 18 starts in France's top flight during 2022-23, including one of each in a 2-2 draw with Monaco earlier this month.

In total, seven goals and eight assists have come from his 44 outings for Lorient, while he has also emerged as a star for Burkina Faso.

Ouattara has already chipped in with four strikes in 10 caps on the international stage, helping his country reach the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations 12 months ago.

The attacker is eligible to make his debut against Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on January 21.
