American billionaires buy 25% stake in Bournemouth

Bournemouth announce that two American billionaires have bought a 25% share in the Premier League club.

Bournemouth have announced that American investors have purchased a 25% stake in the Premier League club.

Chicago-based PEAK6 Investments co-founder Matt Hulsizer and the company's chief corporate development and legal officer Jay Coppoletta will join the club's board of directors.

The majority of the club is still owned by Russian businessman Maxim Demin, who bought into the coastal club in 2011 before taking full control two years later.

Hulsizer said in a statement: "I am excited and honoured to partner with Maxim and AFC Bournemouth. I was introduced to the club over two seasons ago and since then I have followed the club's progress and seen the tremendous accomplishments in that time.

"With Eddie Howe and Jason Tindall managing the team, I am confident that we can establish ourselves in the top flight."

Cherries chairman Jeff Mostyn added: "The club is confident this partnership will further strengthen its ability to compete with the very best and provide a platform to establish itself as a long-term Premier League club.

"With PEAK6 taking a stake in the club, it is a pleasure to also announce that both Mr Hulsizer and Mr Coppoletta will also join the board of directors."

Six years ago, the club almost went out of business.
