Neil Lennon blasts Bolton Wanderers defending

Bolton Wanderers boss Neil Lennon blasts his side's defending in their late defeat to Norwich City after Gary Hooper scored a 93rd-minute winner at the Macron Stadium.

Bolton Wanderers boss Neil Lennon has slammed his side's defending in their last-gasp defeat to Norwich City at the Macron Stadium.

The Canaries went ahead early in the game through Graham Dorrans, but Adam le Fondre brought the Trotters level later in the first half.

The match looked to be heading towards a draw only for Gary Hooper to find the net in the 93rd minute to hand the three points to Alex Neil's men, leading Lennon to rue his side's poor defending.

Lennon told Sky Sports News: "We can't keep giving away last-minute goals. It is a lack of moral fibre. And I really have to be careful how I go about it because I don't want to put myself or the club in a bad light.

"However, it is totally unacceptable that with two minutes to go, we can leave a £6m striker in front of goal with a free shot.

"It is not as though Norwich cut us open with a brilliant piece of football. It was a diagonal ball, a knock down and Gary is in acres. It is not good enough even though we are not far away. It was criminal defending and it is happening far too often."

Bolton are 17th in the Championship following their defeat to Norwich.
