Team News: Pep Guardiola leaves key trio on Bayern Munich bench

Bayern Munich head coach Pep Guardiola names Jerome Boateng, Xabi Alonso and Thiago Alcantara on the bench against Hoffenheim.

Pep Guardiola has handed opportunities to a number of the fringe players in his Bayern Munich squad for the Bundesliga clash with Hoffenheim.

After losing 3-1 to Porto in midweek, Guardiola has one eye on Tuesday's second leg of the Champions League quarter-final tie as Jerome Boateng, Xabi Alonso and Thiago Alcantara all drop to the bench.

There are rare starts for Mitchell Weiser, Sebastian Rode and Gianluca Gaudino, but Philipp Lahm joins a lengthy list of unavailable players after pulling out of the squad due to illness.

Hoffenheim boss Markus Gisdol has handed recalls to Jeremy Toljan and Pirmin Schwegler, while Anthony Modeste also returns to the side to replace Sven Schipplock.

Hoffenheim: Baumann, Beck, Strobl, Bicakcic, Toljan, Polanski, Rudy, Schwegler, Volland, Firmino, Modeste

Bayern: Neuer, Rafinha, Dante, Badstuber, Bernat, Weiser, Gaudino, Rode, Muller, Gotze, Lewandowski
