Barcelona sign Brazil midfielder Paulinho from Guangzhou Evergrande

Barcelona announce the signing of Brazil international midfielder Paulinho from Guangzhou Evergrande for around £37m, subject to a medical.

Barcelona have confirmed the signing of Brazil midfielder Paulinho from Guangzhou Evergrande, subject to a medical.

The 29-year-old moves to Camp Nou for a fee of €40m (£37m) and will have a buyout clause of €120m (£109m).

Paulinho spent two largely unsuccessful years at Tottenham Hotspur between 2013 and 2015 but enjoyed a more fruitful time in the Far East, scoring 27 goals in 95 appearances for the Chinese Super League club.

Barca said in a statement: "Paulinho will undergo a club medical on Thursday and the signing of the contract and the official presentation of the new FC Barcelona player will also take place on Thursday with the following timetable."

Paulinho made just 31 Premier League starts during two seasons in England, despite Spurs shelling out £17.7m for his signature.
