Ivan Rakitic committed to Barcelona cause

Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic claims that he is prepared to "eat the entire pitch" in a bid to help his team win more trophies.

Ivan Rakitic has claimed that he is prepared to "eat the entire pitch" in a bid to remain successful at Barcelona.

The Croatian international joined the Spanish giants from Sevilla in the summer of 2014 and won the treble during his first campaign at Camp Nou.

Barcelona are once again on course for the La Liga title this season, while they have already made the Copa del Rey final and are on the cusp of another Champions League quarter-final.

The Croatian has revealed that he arrived at Camp Nou with a lot of desire and that has only increased over the last 12 months.

"I've been here one-and-a-half years in a dressing room with guys who have won it all. I arrived after a difficult year but we won it all," Rakitic told Sport.

"You arrive and you see this desire and you say 'I have won a Europa League with Sevilla', which is good, and a cup in Switzerland. And you say 'Now I'm going to fight 10 times harder, if I can.' I will eat the entire pitch if I have to."

Barcelona will attempt to make it 35 games unbeaten in all competitions when they travel to Rayo Vallecano in La Liga on Thursday night.
