Martinez surprised by Barca thrashing
Javi Martinez admits that he did not expect Bayern Munich to beat Barcelona 7-0 on aggregate.

Bayern Munich midfielder Javi Martinez has admitted that the manner of his side's victory over Barcelona came as a surprise to him.

The German champions won 3-0 in Barcelona to reach the Champions League final with a 7-0 aggregate victory, but Martinez did not expect such a large margin against what he felt was the "best team in the world" for a number of years.

"It's true that we weren't really expecting two results like these for the simple reason that Barcelona have been the best team in the world for years," UEFA.com quotes Martinez as saying.

"I don't think it has been anything like as easy as it appears but we worked very hard, played very well and in the end I think we can say that we managed to show we were better than them this time."

Martinez joined Bayern from Athletic Bilbao last summer.
