Arsenal defender William Saliba is reportedly open to a permanent switch to Marseille if Les Olympiens qualify for next season's Champions League.

Arsenal centre-back William Saliba is reportedly open to the idea of a permanent switch to Marseille this summer under certain conditions.

The France Under-21 international is yet to make his first-team debut for the Gunners but has excelled back in Ligue 1 under the tutelage of Jorge Sampaoli this season.

Saliba's third loan spell away from Arsenal has seen him make 27 appearances in all competitions - including 20 starts in the top flight - as Marseille challenge for Champions League football.

Arsenal are supposedly ready to integrate Saliba into the first team for the 2022-23 season, but La Provence - via GFFN - reports that the 20-year-old may be tempted by the prospect of a permanent move to Marseille.

The report adds that Saliba will consider such a move if Les Olympiens manage to qualify for next season's Champions League, with the defender feeling "very good" at the Orange Velodrome.

Marseille's transfer ban imposed for their Pape Gueye deal could complicate matters, but Les Olympiens are reportedly hopeful that the Court of Arbitration for Sport will overturn their sanction.

Saliba has only made eight appearances for Arsenal's Under-23s so far and is under contract at the Emirates until the summer of 2024.
