Former Arsenal forward Alan Smith claims that the Gunners could sell Alexandre Lacazette at the end of the season.

Former Arsenal forward Alan Smith has claimed that the Gunners could sell Alexandre Lacazette at the end of the season.

Arsenal broke their transfer record to bring the Frenchman to the London Stadium from Lyon last summer.

Lacazette arrived in England off the back of scoring 129 times for Lyon, but the centre-forward has struggled to make his mark with the Gunners - managing just nine goals in 29 appearances.

The 26-year-old is currently on the sidelines with a knee problem, and Smith has suggested that the misfiring striker could be sold by Arsenal this summer "if he doesn't come good".

"He may not be the player that Arsenal thought he was," Goal.com quotes Smith as saying.

"He started off well but you can look like a world beater in France and just not make the grade in England. Arsenal have a few other players to show that. They may even have to offload him if he doesn't come good."

Lacazette has not featured for Arsenal in the Premier League since the start of February.
