Chelsea reportedly offer Real Madrid the chance to sign German striker Timo Werner, who has informed the Blues that he wants to leave this summer.

Real Madrid have been offered the chance to sign Timo Werner from Chelsea this summer, according to a report.

Despite arriving at Stamford Bridge with the reputation of a prolific goalscorer in the Bundesliga, Werner has failed to reach the same heights during his time in the English capital.

The Germany international has managed to register 23 goals and 21 assists from 89 appearances for the Blues, but he only made the net ripple four times in the Premier League last term.

With Werner seeking to reignite his goalscoring touch ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, the 26-year-old is being strongly linked with a move elsewhere in the coming weeks.

According to Spanish outlet Marca, Real Madrid have now been presented with the chance to sign Werner as they seek backup and competition to Karim Benzema.

Carlo Ancelotti is expected to sanction the exits of Borja Mayoral and Mariano Diaz in the coming weeks, while Luka Jovic has already left for Fiorentina, and Werner has allegedly made it clear to Chelsea that he wants to leave.

As a result, Chelsea are now working to find suitors for the former RB Leipzig man, who would command a fee of €35m (£29.3m) to leave the Blues permanently this summer.

Alternatively, Tuchel's side could allow Werner to leave on loan with the option or obligation to make a transfer permanent at the end of the season, and he has been linked with a return to Leipzig.

Current Roten Bullen striker Yussuf Poulsen has expressed his desire to link up with Werner in the Bundesliga again, with the Chelsea man scoring 93 goals in 158 appearances for the German giants.

"I hope he is coming back, he is a good player. We are a team that are trying to take the next step and develop into one of the biggest clubs in Europe," Poulsen told a press conference. "You need quality players for that. We formed a good partnership in the past."

However, Leipzig manager Domenico Tedesco is refusing to be drawn into the speculation surrounding Werner's future, adding: "Timo Werner isn't my player, isn't our player. He is a player from Chelsea.

"Therefore, I have a clear opinion on this. To not express myself, to not position myself on players, who aren't part of our club, who aren't under contract in our club. In my opinion, that's a matter of respect. That's an important principle, which I set up for me."

Real Madrid would potentially have to fend off interest from other Premier League clubs to sign Werner, with Newcastle United and Arsenal also credited with an interest in the 26-year-old.

Juventus are also believed to have identified Werner as an ideal alternative to Alvaro Morata, who is now back at Atletico Madrid after his most recent loan spell in Turin ended.

In his search for a new backup striker to Benzema, Real Madrid boss Ancelotti is said to have drawn up a lengthy shortlist of ideal acquisitions, including Werner's teammate Armando Broja.
