Arsenal target Domenico Tedesco 'staying at Schalke 04'

Schalke 04 insist that manager Domenico Tedesco will not be leaving the club amid links with Arsenal.

Schalke 04 sporting director Christian Heidel has insisted that manager Domenico Tedesco will not be leaving the club this summer.

The German-Italian coach is said to be in contention to replace Arsene Wenger at the helm of Arsenal, but Heidel is adamant that the Gunners have no chance of prising him away.

"He has been our manager for just one year and he will not leave Schalke. He doesn't think about leaving Schalke," the sporting director told Sky Sports News.

"Domenico will not forget about the chance we gave him. He was just 31-years-old when he became a manager of a club with long history. I trust in him. He loves working here and he is the perfect manager for us."

Other reported candidates for the Arsenal job include Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri and former Gunners player Mikel Arteta.
