Arsenal reportedly recieve a setback in their pursuit of Evan Ndicka, whose Eintracht Frankfurt deal expires at the end of the season.

Arsenal have reportedly received a setback in their bid to sign Eintracht Frankfurt defender Evan Ndicka.

The 23-year-old has made 162 appearances for Frankfurt since joining the club four years ago, contributing with 10 goals and 10 assists.

Although he has started 23 of the club's 24 competitive matches, his future with Oliver Glasner's side appears to be in doubt, with his current deal set to expire at the end of the season.

Amid the uncertainty, a recent report claimed that Ndicka had already reached a verbal agreement to join Arsenal on a free transfer next summer.

However, Arsenal's hopes of landing Ndicka look to have suffered a blow after Frankfurt sporting director Markus Krosche indicated that the club still have hopes of extending the player's deal.

Krosche told BILD: "We are still in talks with him. He can imagine staying in Frankfurt."

While Arsenal are monitoring Ndicka's contract situation, the centre-back is also believed to be attracting interest from Roma.
