Arsenal may reportedly look to sign as many as six new players during the summer transfer window as they bid to challenge for the Premier League title.

On the back of a significant financial outlay in 2021, the Gunners are currently favourites to secure Champions League football for next season.

However, with the uncertainty over a number of players, several who are out of contract or have 12 months remaining on their deal, Mikel Arteta will be forced to act if he wants to keep the club on an upward trajectory.

According to the Evening Standard, Arsenal may attempt to sign six players for a variety of different positions, including bringing in two new forwards.

The report suggests that two defenders, a midfielder and a winger will also feature on Arteta's wishlist, his budget dependent on whether he can keep Arsenal in the top four of the Premier League table.

Strikers will take top priority, however, with Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette both edging towards the exit door, resulting in speculation regarding offers for Everton's Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lille's Jonathan David.
