Gabriel Jesus scored twice on his Arsenal debut in their 5-3 win over German outfit Nuremberg in a pre-season friendly on Friday.

The Brazilian was making his first appearance for the Gunners since completing his £45m move from Premier League champions Manchester City on Monday.

Mikel Arteta's side found themselves 2-0 down at half time following a quickfire double from their hosts midway through the first half, before the Spaniard made four changes at the break, including Jesus.

The 25-year-old netted within 90 seconds of his arrival off the bench after being set up by Ainsley Maitland-Niles, before Mohamed Elneny equalised for Arsenal with a fantastic effort just seven minutes later.

The turnaround was complete before the hour mark thanks to an own goal from Nuremberg, who ply their trade in the 2. Bundesliga, and the hosts turned into their own net once more to provide the Premier League side with a 4-2 advantage inside 63 minutes.

Nuremberg got themselves back in the contest during a thrilling tie on 73 minutes, before Jesus and Arsenal responded immediately to restore their two-goal lead, with the striker finishing at the near post from Gabriel Martinelli's cross.

Arsenal jet off to the USA for a pre-season tour next week, where they will continue their preparations for the 2022-23 Premier League campaign with friendlies against Everton and Orlando City.

Jesus brought his five-and-a-half-year stay with Man City to an end to join Arsenal this summer, where he had scored 95 goals in 236 appearances for the club across all competitions.
