Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech 'understands the frustration of the supporters' following Thursday's 3-0 home defeat to Manchester City in the Premier League.

Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech has insisted that he 'understands the frustration of the supporters' following Thursday's 3-0 home defeat to Manchester City in the Premier League.

Thousands of fans stayed away from the Emirates Stadium for a match that followed Sunday's 3-0 loss to City in the EFL Cup final.

The poor weather played a part in the ground being half-empty, although those in attendance expressed their frustrations at both half time and full time of the clash in London.

"I understand the fans' frustration. You come and you want your team to do well, and when you are 3-0 down at half-time then you are not happy," Cech told reporters.

"Everybody has an opportunity to make their feelings known. For football fans this is their way of showing this. In the second half we improved but the damage was done in the first half.

"With the conditions, unfortunately so many people could not turn up to the stadium. It is unfortunate people miss out on a big game. But that is something we cannot control."

Arsenal are currently 10 points off the top four in the Premier League table ahead of their trip to Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday afternoon.
