Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta reportedly wants Isco and Houssem Aouar at the Emirates Stadium, but the club can only finance a deal for one of the midfielders.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is reportedly keen to bring Real Madrid's Isco and Lyon's Houssem Aouar to the Emirates Stadium.

Isco continues to struggle for regular game time under Zinedine Zidane, and with his contract expiring in 18 months' time, he is expected to move on soon.

Aouar, meanwhile, stayed put at Lyon despite heavy interest from Arsenal over the summer, but the 22-year-old continues to be linked with a switch to North London in the future.

According to Defensa Central, Arteta has urged Gunners chiefs to swoop for Isco and Aouar, with the side crying out for creativity in the middle of the park.

However, Arsenal would supposedly only be able to afford one of the midfielders after forking out £45m for Thomas Partey in the summer, with Isco's refusal to lower his mammoth wages also proving to be a stumbling block.

The Gunners have also been linked with Inter Milan's Christian Eriksen and Porto's Fabio Vieira to solve their creative problems, with Arsenal five points clear of the relegation zone before Southampton pay a visit to the capital on Wednesday evening.
