Liverpool team news : Injury, suspension list vs. Arsenal

Sports Mole rounds up all of Liverpool's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Saturday's Premier League clash with Arsenal.

Having rediscovered their attacking excellence at the perfect time, Liverpool welcome title rivals Arsenal to Anfield for Saturday evening's tantalising Premier League clash.

Jurgen Klopp's men were left frustrated in a 0-0 draw with Manchester United at the weekend, which leaves them one point behind the table-topping Gunners in second place in the rankings.

However, the Reds recovered from that minor blip with a 5-1 hammering of West Ham United in the EFL Cup quarter-finals, setting up a semi-final with Fulham in the process.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Liverpool's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their showdown with Arsenal, who returned to their perch atop the table with a 2-0 beating of Brighton & Hove Albion at the weekend.

Ben Doak

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Last weekend, Ben Doak tore his meniscus while playing for Liverpool's Under-21s against Chelsea, and the 18-year-old will be sidelined for the foreseeable future as he prepares to undergo surgery.

Ryan Gravenberch

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Fatigue
Possible return date: December 23 (vs. Arsenal)

Ryan Gravenberch was feared to have picked up a hamstring injury in the draw with Man United, but scans showed that he was only suffering from muscular soreness. The Dutchman was not risked in midweek, but Klopp should have him available for the top-of-the-table clash.

Alexis Mac Allister

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: January 1 (vs. Newcastle United)

Alexis Mac Allister is no longer experiencing pain in his knee after sustaining a nasty wound against Sheffield United earlier this month, but the Argentine is not expected to return to action until the start of January.

Joel Matip

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Centre-back Joel Matip suffered an excruciating anterior cruciate ligament rupture in Liverpool's pulsating 4-3 win over Fulham on December 3, which is expected to render the Cameroonian unavailable for the remainder of the season.

Diogo Jota

Status: Out
Type of injury: Muscular
Possible return date: December 26 (vs. Burnley)

Diogo Jota is working with the ball at his feet on the Kirkby pitches as he steps up his recuperation from a hamstring problem, but he will remain absent for the visit of Arsenal and is only believed to have a slim chance of coming back before the end of the calendar year.

Andrew Robertson

Status: Out
Type of injury: Shoulder
Possible return date: January 1 (vs. Newcastle United)

Andrew Robertson was in good spirits when he attended the recent BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards, but the left-back is still on the mend from a shoulder operation and will take at least another couple of weeks to heal fully.

Thiago Alcantara

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hip
Possible return date: January 1 (vs. Newcastle United)

Thiago Alcantara has now spent eight months out of action with a nagging hip injury, but he is on track to return at some point in January, unless he suffers any more setbacks.

Stefan Bajcetic

In contrast, Stefan Bajcetic is still being wrapped in cotton wool as he recuperates from a calf injury, and there is still no indication when he might be back in action.
