Arsenal team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Chelsea

Sports Mole rounds up Arsenal's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Tuesday's Premier League meeting with Chelsea.

Arsenal will be seeking redemption against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday, just a month after the Gunners suffered a disappointing 2-1 defeat at the hands of Frank Lampard's team in the reverse fixture.

The North London side have struggled away from home all season, securing just two victories, but face a Chelsea side that have suffered four home defeats this term already.

Mikel Arteta will be hoping for an instant reaction to Saturday's 1-1 draw with Sheffield United, with his side still only 10 points adrift of Tuesday's opponents.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Arsenal's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the clash with the Blues, who sit fourth in the Premier League.

Calum Chambers

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Calum Chambers was just starting to work his way into the Arsenal team when suffered a cruel knee injury in the first half against Chelsea during Mikel Arteta's second game in charge. The versatile defender is now unlikely to return until next season.

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Illness
Possible return date: January 21 (vs. Chelsea)

Sokratis Papastathopoulos has been a much improved figure under Arteta and was certainly missed against Sheffield United. The Greek defender remains a doubt for Tuesday, with Shkodran Mustafi ready to deputise.

Kieran Tierney

Kieran Tierney remains out following the shoulder injury he picked up against West Ham United in December. The Scotland international has impressed in small bursts since arriving from Celtic in the summer, but has managed just 11 appearances for the North London club.

Possible return date: Unknown

Reiss Nelson looked set to start against the Blades before picking up a serious injury in training. In his post-match press conference following Saturday's game, Arteta confirmed the outlook for Nelson was not good, although there is no word on a return date as of yet.

Sead Kolasinac
