Brett Ormerod nears Accrington Stanley switch

Accrington Stanley boss James Beattie is hopeful that he can bring veteran striker Brett Ormerod to the club.

Accrington Stanley boss James Beattie has revealed that he is hopeful of bringing veteran striker Brett Ormerod to the League Two club.

The 37-year-old is currently training with Accrington following his departure from Wrexham.

"Brett's training with us and he's expressed an interest in coming to join us," Beattie told the Lancashire Telegraph.

"He mentioned to me that it's his 22nd pre-season, which shows his experience at these things.

"He's a great lad so I think he would be training even if there wasn't anything there for him, but hopefully we can come up with something which is mutually beneficial for both parties."

Ormerod started his career with Accrington in 1995 before leaving for Blackpool two years later.
