M'Baye Niang rejects talk of possible Leicester City switch

M'Baye Niang insists that he is "happy" at AC Milan and never once considered leaving the club to join Premier League champions Leicester City.

AC Milan forward M'Baye Niang has insisted that he never had any intention of leaving the club and is determined to work his way into first-team contention.

The 21-year-old was recently linked with a £16m switch to Premier League champions Leicester City on the back of a season that saw him score five goals in 16 outings.

Niang has rejected suggestions that he was on the brink of departing after falling out of favour when footage emerged of him jumping into a pool from the roof of his house, instead claiming that he is more than content at San Siro.

"I have never talked about the transfer market and never thought about leaving," he is quoted as saying by La Gazzetta dello Sport. "I'm a Milan player, I'm happy here and I will stay at Milan. I want to be an important part of this team.

"From the first day I got back, I have been speaking a lot with the coach. Now I know what I have to do if I am to become a champion. I am determined to listen to the coach. I must be good both on the field and off it. I realised the mistakes I've made and I must not repeat them."

Milan are now under the management of former Sampdoria boss Vincenzo Montella following Cristian Brocchi's exit.
