Roger Federer was forced to leave Centre Court for a medical timeout during his last-16 clash with Xavier Malisse.
The game was finely poised, with the third seed leading 4-3 on Malisse's serve before calling for the doctor.
It is understood that the Swiss was struggling with a back problem and requested painkillers.
Federer has since returned to action.
