Andy Murray has insisted that being handed a tough draw at the Olympics will not hinder his chance to win a medal.

The 25-year old has been handed a tricky opening match against Switzerland's Stanislas Wawrinka, and games with Richard Gasquet, Tomas Berdych and Novak Djokovic could follow, but Murray believes his performance at Wimbledon should give him confidence ahead of the Olympics.

Murray said: "Everyone said that the Wimbledon draw was unbelievably tough so it doesn't make any difference. I want to try and win a gold medal.

"If I play like I did at Wimbledon, I won't be far off."

The tennis tournaments at the Olympics commence on Saturday.
