Sloane Stephens claims place in French Open final

Sloane Stephens will meet Simona Halep in the French Open final after recording a straight-sets win over American compatriot Madison Keys.

Sloane Stephens has booked her place in the French Open final with victory over Madison Keys.

Last summer, Stephens was the surprise winner at the US Open but the American will have a chance to claim a second Major in three attempts after registering a 6-4 6-4 win over Keys.

The opening set was competitive but the decisive factor was Keys making a total of 23 unforced errors, and it allowed one break of serve to prove enough for Stephens to move into the lead.

Stephens had the better of the early stages of the second too, and although Keys rallied towards the end of the contest, Stephens eventually served out to seal the win in 77 minutes.

Simona Halep will await Stephens in the final after the world number one overcame Garbine Muguruza in their last-four encounter earlier on Thursday.
