Scott beats Le Clos to freestyle gold
Scotland's Duncan Scott triumphs in the men's 100m freestyle event at the Commonwealth Games.

Scotland swimmer Duncan Scott has triumphed in the men's 100m freestyle event at the Commonwealth Games, taking his personal tally on the Gold Coast to four medals.

The 20-year-old has previously collected three bronze medals at the Optus Aquatics Centre, managing podium finishes in the 200m freestyle, 200m butterfly and 4x100m freestyle relay.

Scott entered the race with the fourth-fastest time from the semi-finals but shaved 0.7 seconds off that swim to record 48.02 seconds on the night.

The heavily-decorated South African swimmer Chad le Clos posted a time of 48.15 seconds - as did home favourite Kyle Chalmers, meaning that two silver medals will be issued for this race and no bronze.

Scott, meanwhile, will have three more chances to increase his medal collection, competing in the 200m individual medley, 4x200m freestyle and 4x100m medley.
